What is Vibe Coding?

A New Development Paradigm

Origin of the Term

Andrej Karpathy (OpenAI co-founder) coined the term in February 2025:

Karpathy's Quote"You tell it what to do, it does everything for you, and you code on vibes." The AI handles the technical implementation while you focus on describing what you want.

Evolution of AI in Development

Previously, AI helped with code snippets. Now it enables fully autonomous development.

Fact: Anthropic builds 80% of its own products using vibe coding with Claude Code.
Key shift: You're not a programmer -- you're an architect and task designer. AI does all the technical work. The quality of the result depends on how well you describe the task.

Important: Vibe coding is NOT "press a button and it's done." It's a dialogue with AI. The better you explain the task, the better the result. The driver matters more than the car.
